Zutara Week-Electrifying
Retracing Steps by zstar
She couldn’t shake the feeling that she had been here before. Holding his hand, just like this, while the lightening struck the earth, while they ran their lives, avoiding the constant cycle of death and destruction that always followed them wherever they went.
“This way,” He urged her on, leading her into the nearest shelter, “We’ll hide here!”
Katara pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind, she couldn’t think about the feeling of familiarity right now. Not when Azula was on their trail…
Zuko led them into a near by cave, letting the darkness surround them, giving them the perfect cover. Azula would never be able to find them there, not even if she had a super sensitive sense of smell.
Although they could not see where they were going, they felt right at home. To them, there was nothing to fear, no monster could come and intrude on their journey through the chasm, which was strange, because in the last dark cave she visited, she felt nothing but panic and fear.
But somehow, being here with Zuko, all her anxieties had vanished.
“Let’s take a break.” The banished prince breathed, collapsing onto the ground.
Although she felt like giving into her exhaustion, ready to fall right where she was, Katara could do nothing but stare at him and the rising of his chest. The sound of his heartbeat clapping against the walls.
The hard, stone walls that protected them from the outside world. That allowed them to express whatever desire and need that would surge inside them, without feeling remorse. The thoughts of others were cast out, for now. And there was nothing but Zuko and Katara inside this haven.
‘Just the two of us.’ Shu grinned ear to ear, ‘I wish it could be like this all the time.’
She’d never admit it aloud, but it was nice to have this moment. To be able to spend this time with him, alone, without conflict flooding through the atmosphere.
A few weeks ago, wanting to be with Zuko, alone, was the last thing on her mind. But she was somehow comforted by thought of having the rouge all to herself. No one to butt in or push her away.
Oma wrapped her arms around her lover, squeezing him tight. ‘I wish that we didn’t have to go back home.’
Without thinking, she walked to him, and placed herself right next to him, resting her head on his shoulder, as if on instinct. The fatigue was setting in.
“What are you doing?” Zuko raised an eyebrow at the water bender curling up by his side.
Despite the shock, judging by the red glow on his cheeks that stood out even in the dark, he didn’t mind the gesture too much.
“Just… making myself feel at home.” And she had never felt more at home in her any of her lifetimes.

Day 4 Anywhere
There were certain things, which they kept in secret. After all, a fire and a waterbender were not supposed to get along so well during a war. Let alone fall in love
No matter what, they had to avoid or fight their enemy, and never let their mind open up to the possibilities. But what if two were too young to care, and stubborn enough not to forget after that same war brought them together?
Pale fingers slowly trailed upon dark mocha skin, and he couldnt help chuckling as she nuzzled to his chest as an answer.
They travelled around

It was their second day in Ba Sing Sei and the second party they attended to. That was when Aang told her that they had to leave the next morning. Two generals informed them about an uproar between the earth- and firebenders on the South, before asking the avatar to join them to consult the problem. They also asked them whether they knew where the Fire Lord was, because apparently he had disappeared before they could have reached him.
Katara said nothing when Aang tried to kiss her, whispering he was sorry. But the way she looked at him showed already that insid

Zutara Week - Change
Katara was not having a good day. Her only shorts had ripped a seam, and it was sweltering; she was out of her good shampoo; and some asshole had stolen the wheels off her bike overnight. But the real kicker was that she had been sitting in the coffee shop for a full 30 minutes waiting for Haru, and he still hadn't shown.
"Katara!" She looked over her shoulder to see the man of the hour, panting and apologetic, jogging over to her. "Sorry I'm late."
"No problem," she lied. It was a problem, actually. A big problem.
There was a strained silence. &

Title: Retracing Steps
Word Count: 487
Rating: Suitable for all
Challenge: 2. Electrifying: Zutara week
Summary: When sparks fly (literally), a former life time seems to make itself more apparent to Katara.
Author’s Notes: Another contribution! Nothing much to say about it, accept that I hope you enjoyed it!
Comment if you fav, it's really appreciated!
NO BASHING OF THE PAIRING. Stupid comments will be hidden or reported as spam, or you may be banned from my page. If you don't like Zutara, that's fine, but saying it sucks or whatever is not going to change my opinion about it. Plus it's very rude and vulgar.
